Marquette dominates Kingsford in the pool

MARQUETTE — Marquette Senior High School freshman Quinn Kerekes dueled with Kingsford’s Kolbe Raiche in a pair of boys events and finished in a 1-1 draw during a high school swimming and diving meet held at the MSHS pool on Thursday.

Kerekes touched out Raiche in the 100-yard backstroke but Raiche proved just slightly faster in the 200 individual medley as the Redmen and Redettes won nearly every other event.

Scores weren’t available from the meets.

Freshmen Liam McFarren and Maverick Baldwin each were double winners for Marquette in the boys meet, with McFarren taking the 200 and 500 freestyles, while Baldwin took the 50 free and 100 breaststroke.

In the girls meet, Redettes senior Paige Whaley won the 200 free and 100 fly, while fellow senior Jayme Winn took the 100 free and 100 back.

Marquette swept all three relays in both meets.
