REPUBLIC — Leah McCracken scored 11 points but it wasn’t enough as the Republic-Michigamme girls basketball team lost a 51-19 decision at home to Jeffers in a Copper Mountain Conference game on Thursday night.

McCracken scored in every quarter, including making 5 of 6 free throws in the second half. Tailyn Raisanen was next in Hawks’ scoring with five points.

Jeffers jumped out to 23-4 and 38-8 leads after each of the first two quarters.

The Jets were led in scoring by Miranda Heinonen with 17 points, whlie Dayna Johnson added 14.

The R-M boys went on the road and lost a close 47-42 decision at Ontonagon. Eli Luokkala led Hawks’ scorers with 27 points.
