GLIAC honors Northern Michigan University men’s freshman swimmer Ondrej Zach
MARQUETTE — For the third time this season, a Northern Michigan University swimmer has been honored with a GLIAC weekly award.
Junior Ondrej Zach earned his second GLIAC Men’s Swim & Dive Athlete of the Week of the season after he won three events in a home meet against Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Saturday.
The Rudolfov, Czech Republic, native won two freestyle distance events and a butterfly race as the Wildcat men prevailed 191-104 for their fifth dual meet victory this season.
Zach won the 500-yard free in 4 minutes, 43.38 seconds, the 1,000 free in 9:41.61 and 200 butterfly in 1:56.09.
The NMU men’s and women’s teams are off the rest of this month before returning to the pool at the Calvin College Invitational in Grand Rapids, a three-day meet commencing on Dec. 5.
