Northern Michigan University Wildcat women’s soccer teams falls 2-0 at Northwood

MIDLAND — Despite outshooting Northwood University, the Northern Michigan University women’s soccer team fell to the host Timberwolves 2-0 on Sunday.

NMU (2-7, 0-2 GLIAC) held a 13-10 shots edge, though Northwood (6-3, 2-0) had an 8-5 shots on goal advantage.

Wildcats junior goalkeeper Brianna Frontuto made six saves as her team lost its second straight game. The Timberwolves scored a goal each half as Jessica Piper scored in the 18th minute and Riley Rajewski in the 61st.

Sophomore teammate Caroline Halonen took five shots, while sophomore Natalie Stampfly had two as each of those players had one shot on goal.

Northern is back in action with a trip to Houghton to take on Michigan Tech at noon Sunday.
