MARQUETTE — Northern Michigan University Athletics is celebrating 50 years of women’s sports at the school during this academic year.

The celebration will feature helmet stickers, patches for teams to wear on their uniforms, stickers, magnets and lapel pins.

The official 50 Years of Women’s Sports logo was created by Gabriela Martinez, a senior on the Wildcats’ volleyball team.

The NMU Athletics department asks fans to contribute by providing some of their favorite and most memorable moments throughout the history of NMU women’s sports. They can be shared by visiting online at https://www.nmu.edu/sports/50-years-womens-sports-nmu, which can also be accessed under the “Fans” tab on the nmuwildcats.com website.

During this year, fans will also have an opportunity to hear from contributors to women’s sports at NMU, while other events will also be announced.
