Redmen strikers top Escanaba, 6-0

MARQUETTE — The Marquette boys soccer team picked up a dominant victory Tuesday as the Redmen shut out Escanaba Bayside SC 6-0. Marquette’s defense was stifling as it held Escanaba to only two shots, both of which were saved by goalkeeper Harrison Anthos.

Trevor Salmon got the Redmen on the scoreboard on a pass from Eli Wiitala and that was followed by a Connor Johnson goal. Mack Vezina picked up an assist on Johnson’s tally. Max Dawson then put in Marquette’s third goal with the help of a pass from Nick Asmus. The Redmen took a 3-0 lead into the half.

Marquette didn’t let up in the second half as Salmon and Dawson notched their second goals of the day. Dawson also earned an assist on Salmon’s second tally. Hayden Byma then closed out the Redmen’s scoring with a goal off a corner kick from Vezina.
