Northern Michigan University volleyball player Hailey Wickstrom named to All-Keweenaw Classic tournament team
MARQUETTE — Northern Michigan University sophomore volleyball player Hailey Wickstrom was named to the all-tournament team at the Keweenaw Classic held at Michigan Tech in Houghton on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Wickstrom, a Calumet High School graduate, finished the four-match weekend with 49 kills, hitting .283 and adding seven blocks.
In NMU’s opening 3-2 win over the University of Mary, she had eight kills, three digs and a block from her front-row position.
Wickstrom then had 11 kills and hit .250 vs. Upper Iowa, adding a career-high three blocks to go with 13 kills and a .480 hitting percentage vs. No. 9 Southwest Minnesota State.
And on Saturday, she added 17 kills, two blocks and a dig in a win over Minnesota-Crookston.
Northern, 2-2 over the weekend and for the season, travels to the University of Indianapolis Invitational this weekend, opening against GLIAC foe Davenport on Friday afternoon.
