Marquette Senior High School cross country runners sweep Border Battle in Marinette, Wisconsin

MARINETTE, Wis. — Marquette’s Moses Waite won the individual race to lead his Redmen to the boys title at the eight-school Border Battle high school cross country meet held Saturday in Marinette, Wisconsin.

Featuring four schools each from Michigan and Wisconsin, the MSHS boys scored 24 points with Menominee runner-up with 82 and Coleman, Wisconsin, third with 110. Other participating Michigan schools were Norway and Stephenson.

In the girls meet, the Redettes’ Olivia Moffitt was runner-up individually to Marinette’s Katelyn Kitzinger as MSHS also won with 38 points. Menominee was again in second place with 71, while Wrightstown, Wisconsin, was third with 88 and Marinette fourth with 89.

In the boys meet, Marquette had all seven of its runners finish in the top 15 — Peyton Osborne was fourth, Carson VanderSchaaf fifth, Colin VanderSchaaf sixth, Lincoln Sager eighth, Brady Ketzenberger 11th and Drew White 14th.

For the Redettes, backing up Moffitt was teammate Reegan Ketzenberger in fifth, Anna Grzelak ninth, Courtney Larsen 10th, Guinn Wuorinen 12th, Jordann Stephenson 15th and Emmi Kruhak 17th.

Marquette also swept the JV titles, scoring a perfect 15 points in the boys meet, led by individual winner Adam White. The MSHS girls were led another race winner, Lillian Weycher.
