BAY CITY — Senior Caro Els finished third to lead the Northern Michigan University women’s golf team at the Saginaw Valley State University Fall Invitational last weekend.

Els shot a round of 75 the first day and 76 on Day 2 for 151 total.

Sophomore teammate Gianna Gastrow shot 83-79–162 for 30th. Right behind her, Northern sophomore Abigail Boozer had 84-79–163 for a tie for 31st.

Freshman Taylor Hakala was 52nd plce with 93-92–185, while freshman Tiffany Elo placed 53rd with 102-102–204.

The Wildcats placed seventh of nine teams in its first competition this season.

NMU heads to the Lady Bulldog Invitational at the Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids on Sept. 28-29.
