Marquette Redettes lose at Sault Ste. Marie in 5 sets in high school volleyball match

SAULT STE. MARIE — Marquette extended the match to five sets, but ultimately Sault Ste. Marie prevailed in their high school volleyball match, 25-22, 21-25, 24-26, 25-16, 15-7.

The Redettes (5-1-1) are looking to their first Great Northern Conference match at Menominee on Tuesday evening.

“The Sault came to play tonight and honestly, we just didn’t,” MSHS coach Ann Crandell-Williams said. “We haven’t played a team of their caliber yet this year, so it was good experience for us. It was a tough match with lots of lead changes throughout.

“We looked like ourselves for a bit in the second and third sets, but really struggled with consistency enough to put runs together.

“We missed 13 serves and made other unforced errors at critical moments. It was just not our night.”

Statistics from the match were not available.
