Gladstone downs Munising 7-0 in high school girls tennis meet

GLADSTONE — Munising was unable to break through against Gladstone as the Braves won 7-0 in a rain-shortened high school girls tennis meet on Wednesday.

Gladstone won each match in two sets, led by Andie Balenger at No. 1 singles and Alaina Trudeau at No. 2.

“The girls have been working so hard this season trying to line things up,” Braves coach Ryan Barron said after his team improved to 1-2-2. “Finally, we put it all together and came out with the ‘W.'”

The incomplete match came at No. 4 singles, where Gladstone’s Lilly Griebel led 4-1 in the first set against Munising’s Megan Matson.

Mustangs sophomores Madeline Cole and Emily Miles enjoyed the most success of the completed matches, falling 6-4, 6-3 to Alesha Marenger and Sara Eilola at No. 3 doubles.
