NMU volleyball earns AVCA Academic Award for 12th straight year

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Northern Michigan University volleyball team kept its academic honors streak alive recently as it earned an American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award for the 12th straight year. The Wildcats were one of seven GLIAC teams to get the award.

The AVCA award was first handed out during the 1992-93 academic year and it honors college and high school squads that have a team GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or a 4.1 GPA on a 5.0 scale.

Last season, NMU completed its fourth straight winning season and opened the year with nine straight wins, including a four-set victory over the then-No. 1 team in the country, Minnesota-Duluth.
