NMU’s Juergen takes 3rd in long jump

ALLENDALE — The Northern Michigan University women’s track and field team had a solid day at the GLIAC Championships Thursday afternoon.

Michelle Juergen had the best performance of the day as she finished third in the long jump (18-2.25), while teammate Ninti Little took seventh in the event (17-5.5).

In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Hanna Torvi finished sixth (11:06.80), while Katelyn Smith (37:28.20) and Abby Fifarek (38:43.93) finished sixth and seventh respectively in the 10,000 meter run.

Westwood alum and Ferris State junior Katie Etelamaki won the event with a time of 36:34.91.

The meet concludes this afternoon with the finals for the remaining running events as well as the women’s discus throw, high jump, shot put and triple jump.
