Northern Michigan University men’s basketball player Isaiah Johnson earns another Midwest award

His latest award is being named to the NCAA Division II All-Midwest District Second Team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Last week it was announced that Johnson was named to the All-Midwest Region Team by the D-II Conference Commissioners Association.
Johnson, who is from Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, led the GLIAC in scoring with a 20.6 points-per-game average this past season, making 46 percent from the field and 39 percent on 3-pointers.
He also led the league in free throws with 5.3 made per game, adding in 5.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists each contest, too.

He had a career-high 33 points vs. Lewis to go with 31 vs. Saginaw Valley State, 30 against Ashland and 29 in the Wildcats’ road win at Ferris State in the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinals. He also scored 25 points in NMU’s 77-63 upset of No. 12 Davenport to help Northern post a 17-12 record and reach the GLIAC tourney semifinals.
Johnson finished his collegiate career with 1,569 points to rank seventh in NMU men’s hoops history.
He is the first Wildcats men’s player since 1987 to earn All-NABC District honors, according to a news release from the school.
Johnson was named to the All-GLIAC First Team for the second straight year while also earning All-Academic distinction too.
