Mattson hits from long range in Munising’s win
MUNISING — Senior Anthony Mattson pumped in four 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 21 points in Munising’s 60-48 boys basketball victory against North Central on Tuesday night.
The Mustangs completed an 11-1 slate in the Skyline Central Conference and are 13-3 overall, while the Jets fell to 11-6 in the league and 12-6 overall.
Munising broke open a tight game in the third quarter, turning a 29-28 halftime advantage into a 47-37 lead heading into the final period.
Ironically, the third quarter was the only quarter that Mattson didn’t score in, though the similarly named senior Jesse Matson stepped up and hit a pair of triples in the period as part of his 11-point night.
Junior teammate Austin Killips finished with 12 points, too.
Noah Gorzinski paced NC with 15 points, including a trio of 3-pointers.
