ISHPEMING — Despite five kills and eight digs by Hailey Smith, Ishpeming went down in three straight sets to visiting Manistique in a high school volleyball match held Monday evening.

The Emeralds prevailed 25-17, 25-9, 25-15.

The Hematites’ Korey Kaukola had 18 digs to go with three kills and a service ace, while teammate Madison Pruett made 16 digs and two kills and Emma Poirier added 11 digs, two kills and a block.

In addition, Ishpeming’s Brylea Ranta had three aces, seven digs and seven set assists.

The Hematites are back in action Thursday evening with a match at Westwood.
