Gwinn senior Brenna Bruce named Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association scholar

Brenna Bruce, Gwinn High School

GWINN — Gwinn High School senior Brenna Bruce was one of seven high school volleyball players statewide — and the only player from the Upper Peninsula — awarded a scholarship by the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association.

Criteria for the MIVCA Scholarship are players who demonstrate leadership, character and outstanding academic performance throughout their high school career.

Bruce, an Arnold resident, earned Mid-Peninsula Conference honors on the First Team last fall as her Modeltowners team was the regular-season league champions.

The other statewide recipients of MIVCA scholarships were Emily Barnhart of Roscommon, Ana Grunewald of East Grand Rapids, Kaelin Ray of Southfield Christian, Kiana Mayer of Bronson and Sarah Jackemeyer and Mackenzie Zabel of St. Joseph Michigan Lutheran.
