Signs Unlimited, Pasquali’s, Dave’s Collision win 1-run games in Iron Range Women’s Softball League

NEGAUNEE — Three one-run games highlighted action in Class B of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on June 21.

Sandy Carlson went 4 for 4 and scored the winning run in Signs Unlimited’s 11-10 victory over Quality Car Care, which also got a 4-for-4 day from Becky Moyle.

Nicki Frisk knocked in the game-winner while going 2 for 3 with a triple as Pasquali’s squeaked by Eagles 6-5. The Eagles’ Amy Bazinette had three hits.

And the final tight score in Class B came when Dave’s Collision bested Buster’s 16-15. The winners’ Libbie Doney went 3 for 3 with two doubles while Jamee Gobert homered.

Neily Collick and Casey Dugan both homered in Yooper Shirts’ 13-6 win over Venice 3. Venice’s Caylie Gray homered and Jen Laurila and Nichi Sundberg each tripled.

Kassy Carlson, Amber Salo and Sarah Massie all went 5 for 5 to lead Tino’s to a 27-1 mercy-rule win over Jack’s Teepee 1. Teammate Chelsea Belanger went 3 for 3 with a homer.

In Class C, winning pitcher Madison Pruett hit two home runs to support herself in QCPFC’s 32-16 win over Jack’s Teepee 2.

Toni Tikkanen went 4 for 4 with a homer to lead AAA Insurance past Willey’s Tire Shop 17-10. Teammates Kathy LaPine, Lindy Quayle and Jillian Robinson also had perfect 4-for-4 days.

Willey’s Krystal Heikkinen and Christina Giotto both went 3 for 4 with a double, while teammate Ashley Juchemich had a pair of doubles.

Rachel Frederick went 4 for 4 with two doubles and Kathy Maynard 3 for 4 with one double to lead Paradise to a 24-2 win over Venice 2, which got one hit apiece from Kim Niemi and Mara Couch.

Brianna Lynch, who homered and doubled, and Kris Thexton each went 3 for 3 to lead River Rock Lanes past Wooden Nickel 7-3.

Heather Sandstrom went 4 for 5 with a triple to power Marquette Embroidery past Bertucci Constructions 16-12. The winners’ Shauna Annala hit a homer and Kim Larson was 3 for 5, while Bertucci’s Hannah Bertucci hit a pair of triples.

Cheryl Churack homered, Denise Kaukola tripled and Chelsea Hewitt doubled to get U.P. Health Plan a 16-4 win over U.P. Fabricating. UPF’s Alyse Schaefer had a homer and triple while Jessica Noski hit a home run.

In Class A, Nicolette Schultz hit a pair of doubles and the tying home run while teammate Mandie Meyer cracked the winning roundtripper as Cognition Brewing Co. edged Martin Sports 14-13.

Both Schultz and Meyer went 4 for 5, while Martin’s Tayler Gray went 3 for 3 with three RBIs and Shana Caliguri was 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs.

Teri Haynes was 4 for 4 with a triple and double to lead Jasper Ridge Brewery past Honkala Construction 21-10. The winners’ Amber Emanuelson was 3 for 4 with two doubles while Lexi Taavola went 2 for 2.

Honkala’s Kaitlin Halonen and Laura L’Esperance each went 4 for 4 that included a triple and double.

Leah Dompierre was 3 for 3 with a triple as Sister’s posted a 9-5 victory over Crossfit 906, which saw Hilary Richardson go 4 for 4 with a homer.

Jamie Cory and Nikki Christensen each went 4 for 4 to help Buck’s Party Store overcome Jubilee Foods 21-11. Teammates Liz Hamming and Mary Niemi added homers, while Jubilee’s Amanda Harlock went 4 for 5, Sue Rice 3 for 5 and Bethy Williams three runs scored.

Amy Schultz went 4 for 4, Lauren Anderson 3 for 3 and Mariah Lapointe-Dunham 3 for 4 as Screened Image posted a 15-0 shutout of Venice 2, which got a hit from Brandi Logan.
