Trevor Uren leads Negaunee boys at Kingsford golf meet

IRON MOUNTAIN — Trevor Uren shared medalist honors and a pair of teammates finished within two strokes of the top spot to lead the Negaunee boys to the title at the three-team Kingsford high school golf meet held at TimberStone Golf Course in Iron Mountain on Thursday.

Uren shot a 7-over-par 43 to share top honors with the Flivvers’ Chase Kreski. The Miners’ Carter Mason shot 44 and Jordan Mason 45, while Keegan Erva contributed 51 as the Miners totaled 183 to Kingsford’s 191 and IM’s 197.

Norway and Menominee also participated but didn’t have enough golfers to post a team score.

In the girls meet, Negaunee didn’t have enough golfers for a full team as the Miners’ Anna Pirkola posted 61.

Kingsford won the four-team meet with 218, while Menominee had 229, Iron Mountain 249 and Norway 279.

Medalist was Emma Hofer of Menominee with 49, while Kingsford was led by Haley Gabriel and Sam Cross, each with 52.
