Negaunee sweeps WIN track meet

ISHPEMING — Negaunee emerged on top after the three schools making up the letters in “WIN” vied at the meet of that name in track and field on Tuesday at Ishpeming.

The Miners won both the boys and girls titles. The boys finished with 85 1/6 points and the girls 82 1/2.

Negaunee was led by Clara Johnson and Colton Yesney, each of whom won three events. Each won the 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs in their respective meets.

Chloe Norman and Mike Pizziola won twice each for the Miners with Norman taking the 400 and the high jump, while Pizziola finished first in the shot put and discus.

Ishpeming was second in each meet as the boys finished with 59 points and the girls 70. The Hematites had three athletes win two events. Marissa Maino won the shot put and discus, Katie Loman took first in the 100 and 300 hurdles and Isaac Olson won the 100 and 200.

Westwood took third in both meets with the boys finishing with 34 5/6 points and the girls getting 24 1/2.
