Michaela Peramaki sets Munising pole vault record
HOUGHTON — Munising senior Michaela Peramaki set a school record by clearing 11 feet in the girls pole vault at the Michigan Tech Indoor Invitational high school track and field meet Thursday.
That beat her old mark of 10-7 she set at the Mustangs’ previous meet, also an indoor meet at Eagle River, Wisconsin, Northland Pines on March 23.
“It’s a relief to finally get that under my belt,” she told the Houghton Daily Mining Gazette. “The guy running the vault gave me a few pointers and I think my plant was a big part of my vault.”
Teammate Madeleine Peramaki won the girls 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 33.5 seconds.
