Late flurry lifts Hancock hockey team past Marquette, 2-1

HANCOCK — Hancock scored two goals in less than two minutes during the third period to take a 2-1 high school hockey victory against visiting Marquette at the Houghton County Arena on Tuesday night.

Spencer Samppala gave the Redmen the lead with 20 seconds remaining in the first period, while goalie Dylan Sibilsky kept the Bulldogs off the board for two periods, stopping all 17 shots he faced.

Still trailing early in the third, the Bulldogs turned to senior Bryan Lepisto.

Lepisto scored his first goal at 5:30 to even things up, then just 1:51 later, he struck again. Freshman Colton Salani picked up the primary assist on both goals.

Marquette travels to Houghton on Thursday.
