Negaunee Miners hockey team edged out in final seconds by No. 4 Hancock, 2-1
HANCOCK — No. 4-ranked Hancock needed a goal with just two seconds left from newcomer Teddy Perrault to win get past Negaunee, 2-1, Thursday night at the Houghton County Arena.
In the first period, the Bulldogs (11-4-0 overall, 6-0 Great Lakes Hockey Conference) pressured the Miners defensively, outshooting Negaunee 14-3 for the period, with Negaunee freshman goaltender Preston Maki withstanding the onslaught.
The Miners evened the score in the second period when Trevor Borlace struck on a major-penalty power play at 13:38.
Dawson Kero made 24 saves for Hancock, while Maki finished with 36 stops.
