Man drowns in Schoolcraft Co. lake

GERMFASK TOWNSHIP — A 71-year-old man drowned in a Schoolcraft County lake on Monday afternoon.

The Michigan State Police said that troopers from the Manistique Outpost were called to Kennedy Lake in Germfask Township for a report of a missing man from the McMillan area, a news release states.

Police said initial investigation indicates that Philip Brow went fishing on Sunday and had not returned home. Troopers located the man’s vehicle at the Kennedy Lake boat launch, as well as his unoccupied boat in the water.

A Michigan Department of Natural Resources plane located Brow’s body in the water, and the MSP Marine Services Team recovered the body about 5 feet deep.

No foul play is suspected in the drowning.

The Michigan State Police were assisted at the scene by the Sault Tribe Police Department, the DNR, the Schoolcraft County Sheriff’s Office and the Luce County Sheriff’s Office.
