To the Journal editor: I am writing in response to the front page news article titled “U.P. Legislators oppose NMU’s change of support of the Copperwood Mine Project.” I applaud Dr. Tessman and the Board of Trustees for removing their support from the mine project. To the Journal editor: Fifty years ago (last) Friday, Dec. 6, 1974, the Ishpeming High School girls basketball team brought  home the school’s first Class B Regional Championship trophy by beating West Iron County, 42-36, at Escanaba High School.
