251st Marine Corps birthday to be marked

By Tracey Tippett 1 min read

To the Journal editor:

Few institutions possess the storied tradition, resilience and enduring legacy of the United States Marine Corps. On Nov. 10, we commemorate 251 years of distinction, tracing the corps’ origins to a tavern where a determined few established a legacy of honor, courage and commitment that continues to unite Marines today.

This legacy was forged through sacrifice. Across battlefields throughout the world, Marines have served with valor, carrying the proud spirit of those who came before them from one generation to the next, always ready to answer the call.

Countless men and women have earned-never been given-the title of United States Marine, upholding the enduring values and exacting standards upon which the Corps was founded.

No one celebrates a birthday quite like the Marine Corps. Let us raise a glass in tribute to those who preceded us, those who are no longer among us and those who continue to carry forward our proud tradition of excellence.

Starting at /week.
