The United States has been involved in some form of war (conflict) for 250 years.
People have to realize the United States has not won a war since World War II, which ended in 1945.
• Korean War, 1950-53: Reason: stop communism. 36,000 U.S. troops dead, 2 million civilians died and $50 billion cost. Communism still exists.
• Vietnam, 1955-75: Twenty years to stop communism. $900 billion and 58,280 troops lost. Inflation for years. Over 2 million civilians passed during the war, millions after the war, and tens of thousands of U.S. troops died after the war. Still, communism exists.
• Lebanon, 1982-83: Israel invaded Lebanon to expel PLO fighters. U.S. lost 251 troops after a truck bomb destroyed the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut. Stop Russian communism. Israel wanted a regime change.
• Grenada, 1983: Claimed “Operation Urgent Fury.” Sound familiar? Why communism?
• Panama, 1989: Invasion to get Noriega because he became a dictator. Wanted regime change.
• Iraq, 1990-91: U.S. invaded Iraq because they were going to take over Kuwait.
• Afghanistan and Iraq, 2001-2021: 9/11 retaliation and the Taliban wouldn’t surrender Bin Laden. 2,300 U.S. troops died, $3 trillion cost and thousands of civilians died. The Taliban returned immediately after the U.S. withdrew.
• 2003-2011: Because of misinformation that there were weapons of mass destruction. 4,500 troops died, $2 trillion cost and no WMDs were ever found. Sound familiar?
• 2014-2019: U.S. wanted to stop ISIS from seizing vast territory in Iraq and Syria.
• 2025-26, Iran invasion: Supposedly nuclear weapon. In 2025, U.S. and Israel said they bombed Iran and obliterated everything, including nuclear power. Not true. That was called the 12-Day War.
Since then, in 2026, so far we have spent $4 billion, plus the interest on loans to fund war. Twenty troops dead, 400-600 wounded, including 200-plus children, thousands of civilians.
This senseless war, like the others before, cannot justify the high tax dollars spent or the high inflation and high cost at home to live and the loss of so many lives, both civilian and military. Lost for what?
• Total cost of wars since 1950
Both monetarily and civilian dead to present. Since 1950: $12 trillion.
Civilians: millions of them.
Over a million brave military have passed. These facts are attributed during war.
Literally, a million veterans have passed after the war (because of) Agent Orange, burn pits, wounds and unfortunately suicide takes 20 vets a day.
And PTSD in vets affects not only vets, but their families and friends.
The point is we must try to find people that run for office that are campaigning on a platform of issues that help their constituents, not run on divide, trying to destroy their opponent.
Compromise and learn how to agree to disagree sometimes and get something done.
• In closing
As a Vietnam vet and witnessed the carnage and death for 9 10 months, I would say this current war is no different than all the rest. They are absolutely for nothing.
It is instilled into young men forever.
So, for all who believe in wars, I hope all these facts will give you a chance to change your mind on wars.
We have to realize we are not supreme or better than any other country, militarily or mentally. We are $40 trillion in national debt, so we don’t need to pay for another war.
Seventy-six years of losses. Absolutely no wins. Was the risk worth the reward? Absolutely not. I get tears just saying it. I hate wars and I pray every day they end for good.
I will never, ever forget our brothers that didn’t return.
