To the Journal editor:
How sad to hear (columnist) John Stossel whine about jury duty in New York. “Guilty of wasting our time," The Mining Journal, Oct. 22. What a piece of work! He complains about having to wait four hours and cries that he was made to come back the next Monday.
Being summoned for jury duty is an obligation we owe when called. It is never a guarantee that your “precious time” will be instantly accommodated. Stossel is old and needs water? What he needs is an attitude adjustment.
People in the Upper Peninsula might wait as long, or even longer for jury duty in their counties. I’ve never heard any self-righteous whining from Yoopers. Stossel’s problem is arrogance. He thinks he’s more important than the plumber, doctor, house keeper or miner who honors the summons to appear for jury duty.
When will you stop publishing articles from this poor little baby?
