To the Journal editor:
I write to express appreciation for the staff at Room At The Inn and the difficult tasks they face serving their guests and all members of our community.
Last week's assault on the street in front of the Warming Center was an example of the many challenges they face.
Executive Director Chelsie Wilkinson is to be commended for her strong response to the episode, both in thanking agencies and in supporting her guests. "Everyone in our community deserves to be safe, whether housed or unhoused. This incident is a sober reminder of the vulnerability to violence faced by those experiencing homelessness."
Room At The Inn needs the support of all of us as we seek to be a community that values all residents. I urge us all to be part of that support network.
