Backing Aho Rink in rep race

By Robert Anderson 2 min read

To the Journal editor:

I am supporting Anna Aho Rink for state representative for the simple reason that she cares about all residents of the 109th District, unlike the incumbent whose true allegiance is to his party and the MAGA-aligned agenda of culture war and helping the wealthy prosper.

Anna’s focus, on the other hand, addresses the current economic struggle faced by so many in our community who cannot afford the rising costs of food, housing, basic healthcare and the other essentials of life.

Anna is hometown, born and raised in Marquette, attended Marquette High School and has served our community as a physician assistant for the past 14 years. She holds a BA in health sciences and a master’s degree in physician assistant studies. She and her husband, John, a Marquette police officer, are raising two teenagers who attend local Marquette schools.

Anna decided to run out of concern over recent threats to rural healthcare and the financial struggles facing so many families in the Upper Peninsula. As a PA, Anna understands healthcare firsthand, trusts science and knows that vaccines save lives.

She also recognizes the reality of climate change and need for renewable energy over fossil fuels. The incumbent, on the other hand, has openly opposed life-saving vaccines, denied the reality of climate change and, in 2026, voted against renewable energy.

While Anna has opposed federal budget cuts to agencies like Fish and Wildlife that protect our natural resources, the incumbent has remained silent.

Anna Aho Rink’s positions ring true for a clear majority of voters in the central U.P. Let’s give Anna our support. I hope you will join me in supporting her campaign.
