Where are his priorities?
Vince Lombardi was famously quoted as saying that his priorities were: God, family and the
Green Bay Packers, in that order. He was the last NFL coach to win three consecutive NFL championships in ’65, ’66 and ’67.
The Packers’ Lambeau Field is now located on a street named after him. His statue is at the entrance to the stadium. The Super Bowl trophy is named after him. His legacy was earned by his excellent on-the-job performance.
Donald Trump’s apparent priorities are:
God, Trump and corruption.
He hijacks religious sentiment to promote Christian nationalism as a method to justify racism and policies that condemn anyone that is not white, male and MAGA.
His narcissism is legendary. As a cult leader he threatens anyone who does not kiss his ring and support his policies. Every policy is all about him and his desire for personal gain and aggrandizement.
Corruption and chaos are his only consistent objectives. He goes out of his way to hurt others while helping himself. Grift and hatred rule his on-the-job performance. His objective is to cause fear with his foreign and domestic policy. In his egotistical way, he thinks that he can buy respect by putting his name on everything from a ballroom, to The Kennedy Center, to our currency.
But a legacy is not something you buy during your lifetime. It is given by others after your career is over. No one ever made the NFL Hall of Fame while they were still playing the game. Indeed, if a careful observer wanted to name something after Trump, they may choose a broken sewer system where excrement seeps to the surface and leaves a foul odor.
Sincerely,
