To the Journal editor:

I must express my satisfaction that the biggest fraud perpetrated on the world, namely global warming/climate change, is ending.

In deference to the true believers who asserted that the science is in, there is about 600 million years of carbon dioxide data (Berner 2001) and global temperature data (Scotese 2002). The irony of it all is that these true believers are the very people who chose to ignore it under the misconception that if it happened before they were born, it couldn’t be important.

However, this data shows, global CO2 in the Cambrian Period at 7800 ppm and erratically decreased to the present day Quaternary Period of 400 ppm, the lowest in geological history.

Over the same period, there have been four warm periods, all of which have peaked at about 10°C above present levels and are followed by four ice ages.

One can conclude from these items that; (1) if there is a tipping point it must exceed 7800 ppm; (2) CO2 is at a historic low; (3) there is very weak if any correlation between CO2 and global temperature. Due to the semi periodic and identical maximums, one can conclude (4) the actual global temperature is driven mostly by the sun to earth distance. Note, the sun to earth distance is not a constant but an elliptical orbit. While in the interglacial cold periods and other effects are evident, during the warm periods, the sun overwhelms all other sources.

For those lamenting, the non-appearance of the next ice age, we have been in it for some hundreds of years. I believe in a million years or so, global temperatures will once again max out at 10°C above present levels.

Note, this data is over 20 years old and it is inconceivable to me that our crack scientists, experts at the EPA, failed to discover this in four years.
