Climate change real
I’m a meteorologist with two degrees in atmospheric science. The great majority of the most qualified scientists in my field believe human-caused greenhouse gas emissions and other short-sighted, irresponsible actions like mass deforestation are responsible for a dangerous global warming/climate change that is causing many more extreme weather events and that urgent action is necessary to avoid the worst impacts.
Since trees effectively draw the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, maintaining healthy forests would be one effective way to help slow this climate change. The Save Our Sequoias Act (S.4103) would give land managers stronger tools to improve reforestation, which will not only help sequester carbon dioxide but also reduce wildfire risks here in Michigan and around the country.
I urge Mining Journal readers to contact Senators Peters (202-224-6221) and Slotkin (202-224-4822) and ask them to support and cosponsor the important Save Our Sequoias Act (S.4103) to protect our country’s forests and the world.
