A big thanks to the Rotary Club for their support of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Christmas party and outing which was held at the UP North Lodge event center in January.

The highlight of the afternoon was a sleigh ride through the woods and, of course, the delicious taco bar! Also, a big thanks to the Negaunee Elks Club for sponsoring a movie and lunch outing for our local Big Brothers Big Sisters group in March.

Both the adults (bigs) and the kids (littles) enjoyed the movie “The Lorax,” snacks and lunch afterwards at the Texas Roadhouse. Thank you also to the other companies and organizations in the area that contribute to the programs success. It’s a beautiful thing to witness the kids blossoming through different experiences and activities offered through the program.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Upper Peninsula does an amazing job providing mentoring opportunities and support for interested adults who wish to help ignite the power and promise of our youth. From a “bigs” perspective, it has been a wonderful experience working with the group and mentoring a young lady from the area over the last four years.
