Real cost explored
To the Journal editor:
What is the real cost of Marquette Public Schools $59.995 million dollar bond proposal? The amount the tax payers will be repaying will include the cost of interest on this figure and the length of time it will be repaid. I request that MAPS supply us, the taxpayers, with the total to be repaid, based upon best estimates of the interest rate to be charged. That figure is no $59.995 million. It is much more.
Also, I am not the only one to see the bond figure as much like the listed prices of so many retail items, in this case just shy of $60 million. Is the intent to make the bond proposal seem to be less than it really is, as is the case in retail pricing?
