U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Krist Noem has announced that ICE will be at the Super Bowl and they will be “enforcing” at the Bad Bunny half time show.

“We are going to be all over that place” she said. “We are going to enforce the law. You shouldn’t be coming to the Super Bowl if you aren’t a law abiding American citizen.”

So, legal immigrants and tourists can legally attend events in the “land of the free” but one has to wonder why would they if ICE (Trump’s version of the Gestapo IMO) is going to be there beating up anyone they think looks like an immigrant? Why would actual citizens “of the land of the free” attend events where they can, and probably will, be manhandled and thrown to the ground, handcuffed and detained because some American ICE agent doesn’t like the way they look?

I wonder what the NFL and the television networks think about having the American version of Heinrich Muller telling the world that anyone who attends a major event in America is in danger of being beaten, tased, thrown to the ground, cuffed and “disappeared” by a white supremacist with an inferiority complex and the power to abuse whomever he/she wants? Authoritarianism in the United States isn’t just rearing it’s ugly head but it’s standing up in the middle of Main Street waving it’s arms and shouting here I am look at me.

And millions of our fellow citizens are looking the other way because the don’t want to see it. They think it can’t happen to them. I’m not sure who first asked “How did Hitler rise to power, what were the Germans thinking?” but if you ever thought that yourself all you have to do is look around the United States today to find the answer.

I am sure there are millions of Americans who have never heard of Pastor Martin Niemoller and his “First they came for the communists” poem, but it is time for all Americans to read this famous poem. Learn from it. Maybe the ultimate lesson to be learned from Niemoller’s poem is that in the end they came for him.
