We’ve done nothing
No sooner has the new school year begun and we just had yet another school shooting. This time, the city of Minneapolis suffered the horror of a gunman who attacked children at a Catholic school.
Two children ages eight and 10 years were killed as they sat in a church pew praying. Several other children and three adult adults were also injured. Several were critically injured. And all of the surviving children will be traumatized for the rest of their lives after witnessing this horrific event.
School should be a place of safety, not terror. Two families will now have to bury their children because we cannot seem to keep guns out of the hands of those who should never own them, let alone use them.
Remember Columbine? It was 26 years ago. Twenty-six years ago! How are we still watching these shootings happen but yet we have done nothing to stop them? There are more guns in this country than people. Sandy Hook, Parkland, Uvalde, Tennessee and so many more. So many that I can’t even remember them all.
Our children are paying the ultimate price while this country protects the gun lobby and gun manufacturers at every turn. Where is the protection for human life and safety? We value guns more than we value human life. And that is shameful! No other country in the world has gun violence epidemic like America does. That is because they have strong gun laws and restrictions for civilians to order own firearms.
We hand out firearms like candy to anyone and everyone. A teenager can easily obtain a weapon of war and kill many innocent victims. Not only at schools, but at churches, stores, theaters, workplace and basically any public place. This is mind-boggling!
It is clearly obvious and disgusting that our current president and his administration will do nothing to solve the gun violence epidemic. In the last eight months, they have proven that their only mission is to destroy everything that is good, positive and hopeful for the people of this country. We have watched this destruction every day since he unfortunately took office.
They will suck up to the NRA while innocent victims continue to die each and every day. So, I ask when will it be enough? How many more children have to die before this country wakes up? We have to do something. We have to act now to stop this madness. Our children and grandchildren deserve it. They are counting on us.
