Witnessing hypocrisy

I just finished reading Clarence Page’s (column) in The Mining Journal on Aug. 19 (Tuesday). In it, he tells of a man that was arrested in Washington, D.C. because he “forcefully threw” a wrapped hoagie at a Customs and Border Protection officer. He was arrested and charged with “assaulting, resisting, or impeding certain officers and employees of the United States.”

After the incident, our attorney general, Pam Bondi, stated, “If you touch any law enforcement officer, we will come after you.” Really, Pam? Really? If you recall, on Jan. 6, 2021 at least 174 law enforcement offices in D.C., at the capitol, were hospitalized due to attacks from MAGA extremists. Many of those responsible for the assault were tried, convicted and jailed.

Then, on Jan. 20, 2025, Donald Trump granted clemency to all of the rioters. So, apparently it’s okay to attack officers with bear spray. Apparently it’s OK to beat officers with flag poles and riot shields. Apparently it’s okay to throw officers down to the ground and kick them in the head.

The hypocrisy of these actions is mind blowing, but I know I’ll sleep better tonight knowing that Pam Bondi is protecting us from hoagie throwers.

Starting at $4.00/week.
