Letter to the Editor: Gazans live in inhuman conditions
After a year and eight months of continuous bombing in Gaza, neighborhoods have been completely destroyed, including hospitals, schools and universities. The civilians of Gaza have been forced to flee repeatedly to escape relentless bomb attacks.
Months ago, the only source of clean water was cut from Gaza, and food aid trucks were denied passage to reach hungry people. The Israeli government set up four distribution centers to hand out food for roughly two million remaining Gazans.
No sensible measures for crowd control were put in place to prevent chaos. Instead, soldiers manning the distribution centers fire “warning” shots as crowds rush for food. The result of this system is a daily death count of desperate people trying to obtain food for their families.
Doctors Without Borders is reporting increasing numbers of children starving to death. Imagine being a malnourished mother with a newborn, neither able to produce breast milk nor otherwise obtain milk. Even those working for Doctors Without Borders are unable to access food.
There has been no report of the Trump administration objecting to this inhumane operation. One might ask if there is a new standard among the American people for tolerating nefarious war tactics in our alliance with the Israeli government.
