Lots happening in Negaunee
To the Journal editor:
As a lifelong resident of Negaunee, I think it is important to draw attention to the amazing work that has been accomplished within the community from an economic and community development perspective.
All you need to do is drive down the U.S. 41 corridor and through the downtown to see the progress that has been happening.
Iron Street not only has had an overhaul of its infrastructure, but the streetscaping looks amazing! From the band shell and its Wednesday concerts to the Iron Ore Heritage Trail head, there is so much happening.
And lets not forget the businesses who continue to invest and grow in the city plus the newcomers who continue to open their doors in our community.
How about the continued growth of our school system and it’s facilities, many open to the public.
This tremendous progress doesn’t happen by accident. And while it takes a village to grow a community, their also has to be a leader with a vision.
My hat is off to the Negaunee city council led by our city manager, Nate Heffron. You will find Nate out and about in the community, watching each construction project take shape, partnering with others across the region, engaging the community in city strategies and the list goes on.
In my past role in economic development, I had the opportunity to work with Mr. Heffron and his staff and was always impressed.
Again, as that lifelong resident, thank you Mr. Heffron, city staff and council members for continuing to see the potential in Negaunee and help it to grow and thrive.
