Measure will improve energy picture
To the Journal editor:
For too long, Michiganders have paid the highest electricity rates for the worst service in the Midwest. Democrats in the Michigan Legislature voted to do something about that.
By passing the Michigan Jobs, Michigan Energy legislation, Michiganders will see a transformational build-out of renewable energy, like wind and solar, along with battery storage. This will help improve the reliability of our grid and lower utility bills.
Instead of spending billions on imported coal and gas to turn the lights on, Michiganders will have home-grown energy at their fingertips. The bills create a local-state partnership to site renewable energy projects and expand tenfold the amount of rooftop solar that people can add to their homes and businesses.
All of this will help create local, good-paying jobs for more Michiganders, generate local tax revenue for our police, fire and schools, and reduce the amount of dangerous pollution in our air and water.
Michigan Democrats deserve credit for advancing clean energy in our state.
