To the Journal editor:

This is in response to the February 22 letter to the editor from Carol Palmer.

I agree with her one hundred percent. Trump has called veterans “suckers and losers.” He has also put down the former senator John McCain for being caught and becoming a prisoner of war.

I know that many people will dispute this and say that it was taken out of context, or that he didn’t say this. Unfortunately, though, he did say that. All you need to do is to look at his previous speeches and also hear what John McCain’s daughter Meghan McCain (a Republican), has said about the validity of Trump’s words.

How can any military member or veteran vote for a man who thinks that veterans are nothing more that “suckers and losers?

And how can any United States representative, especially those that have served in the military support Trump?

Finally, and most importantly, why would any military member, veteran, U. S. representative, or anyone else who has taken an oath to support and defend the constitution of the United States, entertain the idea of supporting a man who has publicly said that he would be a dictator only on day one?

Any period of time, whether a minute, an hour, or a day, is not acceptable in a democracy, especially in the United States of America.
