To the Journal editor:

I was dumbfounded by (the Mining Journal story) on our presidential election. To print these partisan statements without any context is irresponsible.

State Rep. Markonen’s hair-on-fire statement about “unimaginable horrors at our southern border” needs to be printed in light of the Republican party’s refusal to pass Biden’s bipartisan immigration reform package.

State Rep. Dave Prestin’s statement that Biden is “pushing extreme energy policies that will result in rolling blackouts and higher rates” needs to be presented in the context of last year’s record domestic oil production and the present low gasoline prices.

State Rep. Matt Huuki’s diatribe that we cannot “afford to feed our families and heat out homes” is ridiculous. We are enjoying the lowest unemployment rates in the last 40 years with increasing labor force participation, increasing wages (especially for lower-income Americans), and the lowest inflation of any country in the developed world.

The sky is not falling and don’t be swayed by this campaign of lies.
