Project Keep Kids Warm successful

To the Journal editor:

Thank you to community donors and supporters from Wesley United Methodist Church of Ishpeming, sponsor of Project Keeps Warm, and Immanuel Lutheran Church of Negaunee, which is always beside us in this ministry program.

We want to offer a collective heartfelt thank you to all of the area businesses and individuals that so generously supported this community outreach.

Our message is the same as it has been for 14 years; we are about neighbors helping neighbors, a hallmark of the Upper Peninsula.

The financial contributions were significant, and it is appropriate to emphasize that 100 percent of the funding was used to purchase jackets, snow pants, boots, hats and mittens for school children in families that had difficulties doing this on their own.

The children attended schools and HeadStart programs in Ishpeming, Negaunee, NICE, Powell Township and Republic-Michigamme. More than 430 children received outerwear between October and December.

Here is the important heartfelt part of the message. When you have something, and you give it away to someone who has nothing, you become a bright light of caring and hope.

That’s how all of us make a difference in a positive way. Thank you for being that light and that difference for Project Keep Kids Warm.

God bless,

Starting at $3.23/week.
