Oppose climate bill in House
To the Journal editor:
There’s a proposal in the U.S. House of Representatives this week, related to America’s debt ceiling, but major anti-climate measures have been included.
If passed, this would gut the historic clean energy/climate investments Congress made in last year’s Inflation Reduction Act.
The IRA puts us on track to reduce our carbon pollution 40% by 2030 — within striking distance of the climate goals that science demands.
It also lowers energy costs, makes it affordable for Americans to electrify their homes and transportation and provides direct support for communities to develop clean energy programs.
Since last August, Michigan stepped up to the clean energy challenge with 14 new projects, with over 13,000 jobs created and projections of 167,000 jobs in the next 10 years.
While these initial jobs have all been downstate, there is room for clean energy projects here in the Upper Peninsula!
Please contact U.S.Rep. Jack Bergman, R-Watersmeet, and share your concerns that we want affordable, abundant clean energy. Let’s keep this historic climate bill intact. America needs to keep moving forward to a clean energy economy.
