Learn about climate change

To the Journal editor:

For some, March may bring to mind lucky four-leaf clovers. Others look to go green through how we plug into our electricity.

Financial incentives are part of the Inflation Reduction Act. Rewiring America has a great tool (www.rewiringamerica.org/app/ira-calculator) to help families save up to $1,800/year on energy bills by making electric upgrades. Check out Go Electric! guidebook (www.rewiringamerica.org/IRAguide.)

Local and state thanks to: the Marquette City Commission for investing in EV vans, an electric lawn mower and installing EV chargers; state Rep. Jenn Hill for her work in the Michigan House of Representatives’ Energy Committee. National thanks to Senators Stabenow and Peters for voting in support of the Inflation Reduction Act.

Readers interested in green electricity and climate action can encourage official resolutions at the national, state and city level. Contact Marquette Mayor Cody Mayer, state Rep. Hill, Senators Stabenow and Peters, and U.S. Rep. Jack Bergman. Make a phone call, send an email or write a letter.

Climate solutions are possible. Learn more about climate action at: citizensclimatelobby.org. Marquette’s local Citizens’ Climate Lobby group meets monthly with ongoing projects.
