Too much technology?

To the Journal editor:

I’ve been reading in different books, papers, etc., about the different fast moving technologies going forward. It’s not the best way. Too much too fast.

They say in five years the technology will be 22 times better than it is now. In 10 years 1,000 times better. So soon it will be so complex and intelligent that the human mind is unable to comprehend them.

In other words, the computers may take over our lives. It’s a little like that now. Not much personal connection. Email, textings. Voice mail. I’ve read health magazines say be careful many will not do physical stuff and won’t use their own brain to think things out.

I’m glad at 83 years old and not into that stuff. I don’t want to have robots take care of me so what out it’s changing fast. Once it happens we may not be able to control it. So for me I still make phone calls, write letters and use my brain and also keep the physical body going, not sit and look at a machine all day.

We have some good news, longer days and soon warmer temps. Get out and enjoy the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Thank you.
