Groups thanks for assistance

To the Journal editor:

In a world where it seems as though there is so much division, I am writing to thank and recognize those volunteers from NORTHIRON Church. A group of approximately 18 people ranging in age from quite young to more mature came to St. Vincent De Paul in Marquette to clean, scrub and organize our pantry and financial aid office. It was truly heartwarming to meet and work with these enthusiastic people.

They washed walls, cleaned glue residue off of freezers, dusted, cleaned shelves, scraped and mopped floors and moved very heavy boxes and pallets of food donations. All of this was done with a smile; and yes, they even cleaned our restrooms. A couple of times I expressed my gratitude by saying “I’m not sure what to say, I am speechless and so thankful.” Their reply was that they were doing God’s work.

Thank you to the volunteers and thank you for showing the community that we can work to serve each other.
