Re: NICE’s sinking fund renewal
To the Journal editor:
I must protest this renewal of the sinking fund. Just how much money does the district need?
The school district gets money from multiple sources, for instance, gas taxes, money from the state, property tax, lottery and now COVID relief money.
When is it enough? Property taxes are high and it’s time to roll them back. Retired people are living on fixed incomes and some are hard-pressed to come up with the property tax and remember that property taxes are tied to inflation. Inflation hasn’t been too bad but it’s now running at 8% and going to get worse, so that’s a huge automatic increase every year.
Our schools are fat and happy but they still want more. It’s time to say no. Not another penny. Our tax bills are high enough.
