To the Journal editor:

The definition of “traitor” is “a person who betrays a friend, country, principle, etc.”

I believe a former president who lied, and is still lying, about the results of the last election, leading to an attack on our Capitol, is a traitor. I also believe that the large percentage of his party’s elected representatives also lying about those same results which also led to the same attack on our Capitol, qualifies them as traitors.

I believe that the former president’s party using ‘The Big Lie’ about ‘voter fraud’ and a ‘stolen’ election to advance voter suppression laws directly aimed at their political opponents to be traitorous behavior.

I believe that a former president lying about a deadly disease which so far has led to almost a million deaths in the USA is traitorous behavior. I believe that a large percentage of his political party and their preferred media outlets also lying about the same deadly disease which led to the unnecessary deaths of American citizens is traitorous behavior. I believe a former president and a large faction of his political party lying about the efficacy of policies to mitigate the effects of this disease, leading to the unnecessary deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans, to be traitorous behavior.

I believe that the former president and a large number of his political allies lying about a vaccine which has been proven to be safe and effective thereby leading to the unnecessary deaths of hundreds of thousands of American citizens to be traitorous behavior. Whether you believe it or not the fact is that the Covid vaccines have been proven over and over again to save lives. This pandemic is now, and has been for a while now, a pandemic of the unvaccinated.

To sum it up, if the aforementioned people have been lying to you about election results, Covid, masks and social distancing, and Covid vaccines — one should ask themselves what else are they lying to you about?
